‘Venus’ oil on canvas

They said she was too dark for the cover of Vogue but all I see is a Gddess. Sudanese model @adutakech is the inspiration for this painting. She has been my muse these many months, inspiring me with her grace, beauty and strength. If Venus were to rise out of the seas this is what I picture her to be. Carefree and magnificent, a source of life like our endangered coral reefs. Did you know that coral can grow up to 450ft ocean deep? In addition to their incredible value as wildlife habitat, coral reefs protect coastlines from storms and provide billions of dollars of food and jobs every year to people around the world. They are also home to thousands of aquatic species including sea turtles, sponges, octopi, fish and then some! Yet, despite their importance the entirety of coral reefs in the world only add up to LESS THAN 1% of the sea floor; an area about the size of France.
